Presented by NCAR’s Education & Outreach Team:
Writing a Research Statement
Mar. 18th, 9:30 – 10:45 am MT
All are welcome.
Panelists will share their research statements ahead of time, and then about how to approach writing a research statement with tips like:
- Research the organization you’re applying to, the department, and staff (research, themes, focus/interests) as background
- Write as though speaking to colleagues (not superiors)
- Think fairly long-term and think big: what could you accomplish, given the time and resources?
- Use occasional bold, adequate spacing between paragraphs, etc. to make it easier to read and to help points stand out.
Two weeks later on April 1st, we will hold a Writing Statement Feedback Workshop. Get yours written, get feedback, and see others’ statements! Take advantage of this programming deadline to get a draft written. We may not have time before the next cycle of job postings (in the fall) to organize another one of these sessions.
