Capitol Peak

First of all, what an amazing group of people! I feel so fortunate to be a part of this amazing cohort! So, before I get to rambling, I just want to thank each and every one of you for everything you bring to the group and our collective experience. You have all made this a week to remember.

Now to the rambling…

The first day was a bit of a whirlwind. Meeting new people in an unfamiliar environment used to be a situation in which I could thrive, but over the past few years, that seems to have changed. However, everyone involved (in any capacity) has made this a most comfortable experience. Renee and Anne are making the wheels turn and helping us get on our feet while Jenny is setting us up for success with our scientific communication workshops, and I’m pretty sure everyone wants to adopt Deb as their totally awesome aunt!

It has been refreshing to be able to come away from every workshop with something important and useful. The protocol-creating exercise with Kathryn and Angela at the MRS was great in illustrating the importance of clear and effective communication. But I have to say my favorite part of this week has been the team building. Walking together on the planks, cooking dinner in the lodge, and our game of volleyball will be memories that will forever make me smile.

I am very impressed with the RECCS program. Its structure, its people, everything. This is the opportunity of a lifetime and I am glad that I get to share it with such an amazing group of people!
