Both of my mentors returned this week, and have given me clarity and direction in the division’s work. The last several days I have been immersed in ‘Unix’ and ‘R’ languages at the terminal all day. 7 days ago I had never heard of either of these programming languages, and now I am successfully navigating directories, creating and manipulating data, and learning constantly.
After meticulously developing the R script to sort and cut data on wind direction, and other variables (wind speed, absorption, scattering etc) in many different ways, I have developed 36 plots today. Thankful for John Ogren, openair, and opensource R!

I am totally impressed with the graphics you’re producing! I’m inspired by you and other RECCS interns to learn the programs you need to learn in order to do your research.
That’s awesome, Alex! Congrats!
