The first week of the RECCS program was one of the most phenomenal experiences of my life! I had the opportunity to meet and really connect with 10 other interns from all sorts of backgrounds as well as numerous scientists that I have looked up to for a long time. We were taught several tips and tricks about reading scientific papers as well as formulating research programs and presenting them. We also had the rare opportunity to spend a couple of nights at the Mountain Research Station to bond with our intern cohort and to get acquainted with field research techniques and for a brief introduction into the area’s ecology and geology. Overall, my first week working as a RECCS intern was more informative then I ever could have imagined and I have made professional and personal friendships that will last a lifetime!
