Team members Mike and Sasha spent all day yesterday traversing a total of 330km round trip via snowmobile from DYE2 to NASA SE and back to do a repair on a station. They returned around 2300 local time last night, ate a quick dinner and turned in. Today they are taking it easy and enjoying some much deserved down time at DYE2.
Weather forecast looks favorable for a twin otter pick up on Monday back to Kangerlussuaq. The team should be back on the grid soon…at least for a day then back to the ice!
Here’s a short 2 minute video showing a typical Twin Otter flight. Video courtesy PROMICE Greenland.
Great to hear that things are going well. Will hope for continued cooperative weather.
Once again, thank you, Barbara. Tasha called home today. It was great hearing from her. She said she enjoyed the traverse to NASA SE and back and work with Mike . my best wishes for everyone to continue with good health and safety while in Greenland.
It’s my pleasure! I’m sorry I haven’t kept the blog updated as much as I should have. It’s great to hear from our loved ones when they’re so far away! Glad everyone’s back on the grid at least for a little while! 🙂
Barbara, here is a link to Tasha Snow’s picture of the real “EPOC oxygen mask” they used on the C-130. She posted it on her FB page. https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/18581970_10158821823310694_1071351092124136619_n.jpg?oh=542bd13ad81f2ac5e56540ee662c5cd6&oe=59A3F951
