HONOLULU HAWAII—Sometimes field work gets very frustrating. The drill becomes “hurry up and wait.” Scott Abbott (NOAA) and I have been waiting in Honolulu this week for Sunday to get here. Here is Scott waiting for sunset (first photo). Finally sunset comes (next photo). After a nice Friday night dinner, we waited for the fireworks (third photo). Today is Saturday, so the drill is to wait for the clothes to dry (fourth photo). So now it is Saturday about 2 pm, and we have learned that our plane has been delayed another 4 hours. In this case it is good, since instead of a midnight check in, we now have a 4 am check in. This means we will get some sleep tonight. Hopefully the next post will be from Kiritimati.
Best wishes for a good weekend,
Paul
