CU campus will be closed on Monday, July 3, 2023, in alignment with Governor Polis’ recent decision to observe July 3 as an additional state holiday. This new day of leave extends to all regular CIRES employees, regardless of work location. However, classes scheduled for this day will continue as normal and instructors should not cancel those classes.

Combined with the July 4 holiday on Tuesday, most CIRES employees may now enjoy a four-day weekend.

Some important details:

  • Employees who had already gained approval for personal leave for Monday, July 3, can update their vacation request and now use administrative leave for that day instead when recording their time.
  • Employees should record July 3 as “administrative leave” when taking that day off.
  • If an employee performs essential services and must work on July 3:
    • These employees and their supervisors should work together to find alternate days on which our employees can use this leave, based on the scheduling needs in their unit or department. Please take the alternative day before December 31, 2023.
    • When you take the alternative day, record it as, “administrative leave” in My Leave or the time tracking system pertinent to your unit.
  • CIRES administrative offices will be closed on July 3 and 4 in observance of the campus calendar.
