Juneteenth, which recognizes the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, is now an official state holiday in Colorado.
CIRES members who follow the CU Boulder holiday schedule can see this article for details.
NOAA-embedded staff who observe the federal holiday schedule will note that MyLeave already includes a Juneteenth holiday on June 20 this year.
For CU Boulder Campus located CIRES employees please note the following on accounting for this holiday in MyLeave, as CU Boulder will honor it as a floating personal observance day (i.e. it is not hard coded in the MyLeave calendar and you will not see it noted as a holiday).
- Leave-eligible employees may use the Juneteenth personal observance day (floating holiday) for the 2022 fiscal year by Dec. 31, 2022.
- Use of the personal observance day should be made in consultation with your supervisor.
- Requests should be made in advance, by entering the earnings code Personal Observance Day in MyLeave.
- Employees who leave the university at any time during the year will be able to use the personal observance day before they depart. The day would not be paid out if an employee does not take it.
