My first week here with RECCS has been eventful, to say the least. I feel much more confident about my project than I was before this week and I’m looking forward to getting started. I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to be here, learning new skills, gaining new experiences, and meeting new people. It’s been a lot to take in so far though and I’ve been trying to balance out the new aspects that are scary or stressful with positive new aspects. I’ve been enjoying exploring Boulder on my bike and looking forward to more of that and trying some hiking trails as well. It’s so beautiful and green here.
On Friday I got to see where I’ll be working for these two months, and met the grad students I’ll be working with (who all seem pretty great). My day consisted of setting up programs on my computer and then going through a lengthy tutorial for Igor, the program I’ll be using for most of my data analysis. I haven’t done any coding since forever ago in school, so that was fun. Parentheses are REALLY important.
I’m looking forward to meeting my mentor tomorrow (she was out of town for the first week) and really getting started on analyzing my data and figuring out what I’m looking for. And many more coding mistakes, I’m sure.
