The research ship R/V Revelle, soon to be our home away from home for 25 days. The Revelle is based out of San Diego.

In the next few weeks I will be blogging from an ocean bottom seismometer recovery cruise offshore New Zealand. We will make a counterclockwise circuit around the South Island of New Zealand, picking up 29 ocean bottom seismometers that we deployed one year ago. The 30th seismometer was trawled up by a fishing vessel in July, and we were lucky to get it back (having a NZ fisheries officer aboard probably helped). At the moment I am in Wellington, New Zealand, and in less than an hour I need to board the ship – better pack up!
