We’ve slowly started installing some of the support infrastructure for our instruments….  but no actual instruments yet as we wait for the saw dust to settle (and get cleaned up!).  Here are a few of the ICECAPS team members hard at work.  Erik guiding the fork lift as it hoists a microwave radiometer up to the roof, Chris installing an external housing for a spectral infrared interferometer, and Duane admiring our insulated radar waveguide protector tube (not fully installed yet!).   We’re all pretty excited to get the instruments unpacked and installed.

Today the weather shifted a bit from the mostly clear, sunny skies of the past few days to an overcast stratiform cloud layer with intermittent snow showers and a lot of wind.  The clouds acted like a blanket, lifting the temperature up to +10 F from temperatures below -26 F last night.  But in spite of the “warm” temperatures, it was one of the colder days working outside because of the wind.   Glad to see the clouds nonetheless.
