When submitting a travel request on InsideCIRES, travelers are asked to provide a justification for the trip. The travel request system states, “In a few sentences, state how this travel benefits the project that is supporting your trip costs. Please include the full name of any meeting you may be attending and the title(s) of any papers or presentation. Please do not use acronyms.”
If your travel request does not state how the travel is beneficial to the project that is supporting your trip costs, the travel request will be returned to you for edits and resubmission. Please reach out to CIREStravel@colorado.edu if you have any questions.
This is an example of an acceptable justification:
“I am attending the annual AGU (American Geophysical Union) 2025 meeting and will be presenting “ABSTRACT / PRESENTATION TITLE”. Presenting at the AGU meeting is beneficial to my project because [please be specific about how the travel is beneficial to particular project.]”
This is an example of an unacceptable justification:
I am attending AGU and will present.
