From the Director: I’m delighted to let you know that we have hired a new human resources director. William Thompson (“BJ”) will begin Monday November 5, and I hope you will join me in making him feel welcome at CIRES.
BJ comes to us from Children’s Hospital Colorado, where he has served as the human resources manager since 2012. In that position, he has earned high praise for his support of leadership and staff in all areas of HR, from talent acquisition and employee relations to broader efforts to support a culture of excellence, accountability, and ownership.
BJ has also worked in academic settings, serving in various positions (employee relations manager, HR consultant) at Colorado State University, the University of New Mexico, and Regis University.
Please take a moment to introduce yourself to BJ when you see him. And please also join me in thanking Jon Rush for returning to the CIRES administrative team at a time when we needed him greatly. Jon has tirelessly supported our institute these last few months—as he did for decades, before his retirement. I am tremendously grateful for all Jon has done for us in this critical time, and he will remain engaged in CIRES HR matters a little longer, working to ensure a smooth transition.
