Our first stop is Palmdale, California. Tim Newberger and Jack Higgs spent Saturday and Sunday driving the AirCore chase vehicle and all the equipment from Boulder over the Rockies and through western Colorado, across Utah, through the northwestern corner of Arizona and the southern tip of Nevada before finally rolling into California and then Palmdale. Meanwhile, Bianca Baier flew ahead and spent the weekend meeting with our TCCON/ EM27 partners and made some arrangements for the ground-based spectrometers.
The EM27/SUN spectrometer is a mini FTS that is relatively portable. Four EM27s are measuring total column CO2, CH4, and CO at Edwards AFB for comparisons to the TCCON FTS, and to better understand biases inherent to these portable measurements. One EM27 will be stationed nearer to our designated AirCore landing location for a more robust comparison to our vertical profiles.
