This summer, the grad student intern is Sierra Gladfelter, a Masters student in geography. She\u2019ll be in Zambia from June through August and will be writing several posts during her time there.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what Max Boykoff, CSTPR Director, said in an email about what she\u2019ll be doing this summer:<\/p>\n<p><em>In Zambia, Sierra will be supporting the monitoring and evaluation<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 component of the \u2018City Learning Lab processes\u2019 Zambia Red Cross<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Society program. This includes supporting the facilitation and<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 documentation of the First Lusaka Learning Lab for the Future<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Resilience for African Cities and Lands (FRACTAL) project, including<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 contribution to the development of a learning framework and<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 establishing a learning baseline, researching background materials and<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 preparing reading materials in collaboration with the FRACTAL team and<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 documenting learning during the Learning Lab interactions and<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 compiling a learning report. In addition, Sierra will support ongoing<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 field work activities of the Zambia Red Cross Society as well as<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 contribute to the sharing of concepts for the \u2018Forecast Based Finance\u2019<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 project, compiling existing materials on forecast based finance,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 developing a participatory training course to illustrate the<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 principles of Forecast Based Finance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the program, go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/students\/redcross\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre Program website<\/a>.
