MECCO assembles the data by accessing archives through the Lexis Nexis, Proquest and Factiva databases via the University of Colorado libraries. These fifty sources are selected through a decision processes involving weighting of three main factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>geographical diversity (favoring a greater geographical range)<\/li>\n<li>circulation (favoring higher circulating publications<\/li>\n<li>reliable access to archives over time (favoring those accessible consistently for longer periods of time)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/world\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">World<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/australia\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Australia<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/canada\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Canada<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/india\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">India<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/new_zealand\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/spain\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/uk\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">United Kingdom<\/a>, &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/usa\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">United States<\/a> (Updated through December 2014)<\/p>\n<p><em>Figure Citations\u2028<\/em><br \/>\nAndrews, K., Boykoff, M., Daly, M., Gifford, L., Luedecke, G., McAllister, L., Nacu-Schmidt, A., and Wang, X.
