We assemble the data by accessing  archives through the Lexis Nexis, Proquest and Factiva databases via the  University of Colorado libraries. These fifty sources are selected  through a decision processes involving weighting of three main factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> geographical diversity (favoring a greater geographical range)<\/li>\n<li>circulation (favoring higher circulating publications<\/li>\n<li>reliable access to archives over time (favoring those accessible consistently for longer periods of time)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/world\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">World<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/australia\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Australia<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/canada\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Canada<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/india\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">India<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/new_zealand\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/spain\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/uk\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">United Kingdom<\/a>, &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/usa\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">United States<\/a> (Updated through May 2014)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/sciencepolicy.colorado.edu\/icecaps\/research\/media_coverage\/japan\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a> (Updated through January 2014)<\/p>\n<p><em>Figure Citations<\/em><br \/>\nMcAllister, L., Gifford, L., Daly, M., Boykoff, M.,  Boehnert, J., Andrews, K., and Wang, X., and Nacu-Schmidt, A.
