The rule will push states to cut pollution primarily from coal-fired generators.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/powersource.post-gazette.com\/powersource\/policy-powersource\/2014\/05\/27\/EPA-to-release-guidelines-on-carbon-emissions\/stories\/201405270008\">As many await<\/a> details of the rule,\u00a0The New York Times\u00a0reports that sources familiar with proposal suggest that it will call for a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/05\/29\/us\/politics\/obama-to-offer-rules-to-sharply-curb-power-plants-carbon-emissions.html?hpw&amp;rref=politics&amp;_r=0\">20 percent reduction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyxxi.org\/epa-regs\">new study<\/a> by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was skeptical of the regulation, slated for release on June 2, finding that they would\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/nation\/politics\/politicsnow\/la-fi-climate-change-impact-chamber-commerce-study-20140528-story.html\">cost the economy $51 billion a year<\/a> in lost investments. The Chamber further suggests that the rule could diminish coal-fired generation, which currently represents 40 percent of electricity generation in the country,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-05-28\/chamber-study-predicts-obama-climate-rule-will-kill-jobs.html\">by one third<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a blog post,\u00a0the EPA disputed the Chamber of Commerce findings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe chamber\u2019s report is nothing more than irresponsible speculation based on guesses of what our draft proposal will be,\u201d wrote Tom Reynolds, associate administrator for external affairs. \u201cJust to be clear\u2014it\u2019s not out yet.
