{"id":677,"date":"2012-05-24T10:36:07","date_gmt":"2012-05-24T02:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cires.colorado.edu\/blogs\/mongolia\/?p=677"},"modified":"2014-06-05T21:26:02","modified_gmt":"2014-06-05T21:26:02","slug":"peer-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ciresblogs.colorado.edu\/mongolia\/2012\/05\/24\/peer-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"PEER Grant!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prof. Lodoysamba of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.num.edu.mn\/\" target=\"_blank\">NUM<\/a> (my main Mongolian collaborator and featured in <a href=\"http:\/\/cires.colorado.edu\/blogs\/mongolia\/2011\/08\/12\/mmss4-professor-lodoysamba\/\" target=\"_blank\">MMSS #4<\/a>) and I were pleased to find out a few weeks ago that a grant we wrote entitled, &#8220;Determining sources and health impacts of particulate matter in Ulaanbaatar City to aid and assess current air pollution mitigation efforts&#8221; has been funded through a new program called\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.nationalacademies.org\/pga\/dsc\/peer\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">PEER<\/a>.\u00a0This funding will allow us to better assess and monitor the changes in particulate source appointment in UB. You can check out the abstract <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.nationalacademies.org\/PGA\/dsc\/PEER\/PGA_069230\">here<\/a>. We&#8217;re pretty excited!<\/p>\n<p>PEER &#8211; Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research is a joint initiative through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">USAID<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">NSF<\/a> that &#8220;allow scientists in developing countries to apply for funds to support research and capacity-building activities in partnership with their NSF-funded collaborators on topics of importance to USAID.&#8221; This was the first round of the PEER program, but there will be another grant proposal round this coming fall.
