{"id":143,"date":"2013-10-04T17:16:42","date_gmt":"2013-10-04T17:16:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cires.colorado.edu\/blogs\/flood\/?p=143"},"modified":"2014-06-05T21:27:05","modified_gmt":"2014-06-05T21:27:05","slug":"friday-afternoon-webinar-from-ucar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ciresblogs.colorado.edu\/flood\/2013\/10\/04\/friday-afternoon-webinar-from-ucar\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday afternoon webinar from UCAR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NCAR&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ral.ucar.edu\">Research Applications Laboratory<\/a> and UCAR&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comet.ucar.edu\">COMET<\/a> program present a webinar this afternoon (Friday):<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Great Front Range Flood of 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rita Roberts, Jenny Sun, Dave Gochis, Barbara Brown, and Matt Kelsch<\/p>\n<p>The deadly flood that occurred in the Front Range during the week of September 10<sup>th<\/sup>, 2013 is believed to be the worst in the state\u2019s history. It claimed several lives and damaged numerous homes and roads. In the context of NCAR\u2019s Short-Term Explicit Prediction (STEP) program, an effort is underway to understand the flood event and to improve our forecasting of future heavy rainfall and flood events. In this seminar, we will present what has been learned so far from observations and modeling, including coupled hydrologic modeling.
