The FirnCover science team arrived at the EKT site approximately 100 km (~62 mi) NE of DYE 2 Sunday\u00a0afternoon. The snowmobile traverse was fairly uneventful with the exception of a few\u00a0“bumps on the road”. \u00a0Due to the very rough\u00a0ride, two of the Zarges aluminum cases flew off one of the sleds after a strap snapped loose.<\/p>\n

They also had to replace\u00a0a U-bolt that hitches the sleds together; the constant jarring from the ride caused it to break.<\/p>\n

The following day was a productive one, having completed all tasks at EKT. \u00a0Temperatures were cooler due to site’s higher elevation.<\/p>\n

Next stop: NASA SE.<\/p>\n
