Dear\u00a0FIREX<\/span>ers;<\/p>\n

Today we had six burns, with a wide variety of flaming and\u00a0smoldering\u00a0emissions–and we snuck in a short burn of one of the chaparral fuels we\u00a0just received:\u00a0Lodgepole Litter\/\u00a0Douglas Fir and Litter\/\u00a0Engelmann Spruce Canopy\/\u00a0Chamise\/ Sub-alpine Fir\/\u00a0Engelmann Spruce Duff.<\/p>\n

We have had several instrumental challenges to date, but those have been or are\u00a0being resolved. We plan on a full day of chaparral fuels tomorrow and\u00a0will have a few science presentations at the end-of-day meetings\u00a0tomorrow and Thursday.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, October 12<\/p>\n

Dear\u00a0FIREX<\/span>ers:<\/p>\n

Today we had four successful burns of chaparral and one of a Douglas Fir rotten log.<\/p>\n

Today’s science presentations were by Jim about the new Ny system, Bin Yuan about first results with the I-CIMS and Paola Massoli about the nitrate-CIMS. Thanks for the great discussion!<\/p>\n

From now on we will plan on burns at 9AM, big burn 10:35AM, 1PM, 2:30PM and 4PM with an occasional added burn in the afternoon.<\/span><\/div>\n

TENTATIVE<\/b>\u00a0Plan for the upcoming days:

<\/div>\n
10\/13<\/span>\u00a0–\u00a09 AM start for\u00a05 burns;\u00a0<\/span>5PM\u00a0science presentation about the chamber measurements<\/span><\/div>\n
10\/14 – 5 burns:\u00a0chaparral;\u00a05PM\u00a0science presentation about compound identification on Tof mass specs<\/div>\n
10\/15 or 10\/16 – calibration\/instrument day<\/div>\n
