Have a background in Earth or Space sciences? Apply for the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Earth Science Residency program at the Richard Gilder Graduate School at the American Museum of Natural History – the first urban teacher residency program offered by a museum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a focus on preparing new Earth science teachers, the MAT program is a full-time extended year teaching fellowship master\u2019s program that takes place at the museum and in urban partner schools. Residents start in June 2021 and graduate the following August. We seek a student body with diverse life and career experience and passion and enthusiasm for Earth and space science.  We look for applicants to have demonstrated engagement in science research outside of their coursework \u2013 and thus completion of an REU is a terrific fit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants are required to have undergraduate or graduate preparation in geology, meteorology, physical oceanography, earth and environmental sciences, astronomy and related majors or minors. All candidates receive a fellowship that fully covers tuition, books, a laptop, certification fees, and a $30,000 living stipend <\/strong>while enrolled in the program. In return, candidates commit to teaching in a high-needs public school for three years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
