{"id":3473,"date":"2025-10-29T16:30:33","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T16:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ciresblogs.colorado.edu\/cires-admin\/?p=3473"},"modified":"2025-12-22T16:06:05","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T16:06:05","slug":"winter-break-2025-2026-guidance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ciresblogs.colorado.edu\/cires-admin\/2025\/10\/29\/winter-break-2025-2026-guidance\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter break 2025-2026 guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:#fcb900\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Updated with additional federal leave days on December 24 and 26 for NOAA embedded employees. <\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorado.edu\/hr\/winter-break-administrative-leave-details-2025\">CU Boulder leadership has granted employees <strong>five days of administrative leave<\/strong><\/a><strong>*<\/strong> &nbsp;Dec. 24, 29, 30, 31, and January 2. &nbsp;If the governor should issue an additional governor\u2019s holiday for this period, that will replace one of the administrative leave days already granted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Campus-based employees: <\/strong>For those on campus, these administrative days are in addition to the paid holidays of December 25, 26, and January 1. This results in a Winter Break from December 24, 2025 &#8211; January 2, 2026.&nbsp; Employees do not need to take any personal leave during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOAA-based employees:<\/strong>s Employees based at NOAA will still follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opm.gov\/policy-data-oversight\/pay-leave\/federal-holidays\/#url=2024\">federal holiday schedule<\/a> with the addition of five days to be taken December 24, 29, 30, 31 and January 2 (five days total). Please note there are always slight differences in the holiday schedule for campus and NOAA (e.g., this year, campus-based employees have November 28). The late addition of the holidays granted by POTUS on December 24 and 26 will not show up as holidays in MyLeave, so please annotate administrative leave for these two days even though they are part of the federal holiday calendar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Prorated for part-time employees.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Eligible employees:<\/strong> This additional time off applies to all leave-eligible CIRES employees regardless of work location.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> The funding for this leave will come from each individual\u2019s current salary funding source.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recording time:<\/strong> Employees should record the time as \u201cAdministrative Leave\u201d for campus designated days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CIRES administration &amp; campus operations:<\/strong> CIRES and all campus administrative offices will be <strong>closed<\/strong>&nbsp; November 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday, and December 24 \u2013 January 2, for Winter Break\u2014please plan accordingly.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alternate administrative leave:<\/strong> People who <em>must<\/em> work those days will be allowed to flex time off \u2013 please work with your supervisor to determine if flex time is necessary. These employees and their supervisors should find alternate days (by June 30, 2026) on which our employees can use this leave based on the scheduling needs in their unit or department. When this admin leave is entered into MyLeave, please annotate &#8220;annotate in the comments section of MyLeave that this Admin Leave is from the &#8220;winter break 2025-2026 allowance.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MyLeave Guidance:<\/strong> Staff and faculty who submit timesheets should record the time as \u201cAdministrative Leave\u201d for Dec. 24, 29, 30, 31, and January 2.\u00a0* and December 26 for NOAA embedded staff. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions about the above information, please contact <a href=\"mailto:cireshr@colorado.edu\">cireshr@colorado.edu<\/a>.
