{"id":2333,"date":"2022-05-06T13:30:03","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T13:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ciresblogs.colorado.edu\/cires-admin\/?p=2333"},"modified":"2022-05-06T20:22:56","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T20:22:56","slug":"cu-boulder-adds-juneteenth-as-an-official-cu-holiday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ciresblogs.colorado.edu\/cires-admin\/2022\/05\/06\/cu-boulder-adds-juneteenth-as-an-official-cu-holiday\/","title":{"rendered":"CU Boulder adds Juneteenth as an Official Holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Juneteenth, which recognizes the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, is now an official state holiday in Colorado. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CIRES members who follow the CU Boulder holiday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorado.edu\/hr\/cu-boulder-holiday-schedule\">schedule<\/a> can see this&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/colorado.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e4d2f8cdd012be92d10bd8e14&amp;id=76501ec3d6&amp;e=33aa260841\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a>&nbsp;for details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOAA-embedded staff who observe the federal holiday&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/colorado.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e4d2f8cdd012be92d10bd8e14&amp;id=5b29bd7491&amp;e=33aa260841\" target=\"_blank\">schedule<\/a>&nbsp;will note that MyLeave already includes a Juneteenth holiday on June 20 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For CU Boulder Campus located CIRES employees please note the following on accounting for this holiday in MyLeave, as CU Boulder will honor it as a floating personal observance day (i.e. it is not hard coded in the MyLeave calendar and you will not see it noted as a holiday). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Leave-eligible employees may use the Juneteenth personal observance day (floating holiday) for the 2022 fiscal year by Dec. 31, 2022.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Use of the personal observance day should be made&nbsp;in consultation with your&nbsp;supervisor.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Requests should be made in advance, by entering the earnings code&nbsp;<em>Personal Observance Day<\/em>&nbsp;in MyLeave. <\/li><li>Employees who leave the university at any time during the year will be able to use the personal observance day before they depart.
