Travelers should review the full policy on InsideCIRES <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/insidecires.colorado.edu\/finance\/travel\/personalTravel\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, before submitting a travel request to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:cirestravel@colorado.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cirestravel@colorado.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Briefly, here\u2019s what changed: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Travelers may use a different route to arrive at the business destination than would have been taken without the inclusion of personal travel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Travelers are allowed to include a stopover at a non-business location.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Identical quotes are no longer required. Instead, travelers must provide comparison quotes showing the cost of the route that would have been taken versus the cost of the route actually planned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Duration of personal travel cannot exceed the duration of the business travel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As before:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Travelers cannot receive reimbursement for costs incurred as a result of personal travel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8211;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If the inclusion of personal travel results in more costly airfare, travelers must pay for their airfare up-front with personal funds and request reimbursement after their trip is complete.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Send questions on the new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/insidecires.colorado.edu\/finance\/travel\/personalTravel\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Personal Travel Policy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to cirestravel@colorado.edu.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new policy is now in effect for CIRES employees wishing to include personal travel as part of their business trip.
