Dear CIRES Colleagues, 

Please take a moment to read through three COVID-related updates, even though some may not pertain to you\u2014yet. Some of you may also be receiving information from your departments; please forgive any redundancy. And also, keep in mind that any presence in a campus building requires approval through the return-to-work process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First: New Guidance for In-Person Meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CU Boulder Research & Innovation Office has announced new guidance<\/a> covering in-person meetings, allowing short, 3-person meetings indoors and up to 8-person meetings outdoors in some circumstances. For CIRES, the announcement is only relevant if you have already been approved to return to in-person work on CU Boulder\u2019s campus or at approved field sites, or once you are approved in the near future.

This new guidance is not a mandate: Anyone who is not comfortable meeting in person via these two new means is not expected or required to do so. Please work with your supervisor to ensure mutual understanding.

If you are working in-person in the David Skaggs Research Center, you must adhere to guidance from NOAA and other federal partners in addition to this guidance.

Second: Testing and Safety Protocols<\/strong>

As always, anyone working in-person must follow established protocols, including completing the Buff Pass<\/a> daily health check-in each day. Everyone working regularly in person should also be taking the free saliva\/surveillance test at least weekly. This applies to CIRES people working at the David Skaggs Research Center as well as those on CU Boulder\u2019s campus. Testing locations and hours are here<\/a>.

Third: Vaccination Begins on Campus<\/strong>

Vaccination has begun on CU Boulder campus and will continue, as long as supplies are available, in sync with state phases (eg, right now: for people up through phase 1B.3<\/a>). Faculty, staff and students must be signed up through the university to participate; after signing up, you will be notified when you may make an appointment. More information is here<\/a>.
