A phone call this afternoon from Mike on the ice sheet revealed that the team has completed work at the EKT station; instruments are successfully transmitting data, and they are well ahead of schedule to boot! If the favorable weather trend continues, the team will start their next journey tomorrow towards the NASA-SE site, located at about 100 km (61 miles) southeast of their current position.  Depending on ground conditions and number of stops, Mike said, the duration of this snow mobile traverse is approximately 4 to 5 hours.

As a side note, the evening’s dinner on the ice sheet consisted of seasoned musk ox steaks, broccoli and mashed potatoes…not too shabby I’d say!  –  Barbara
